Students are guaranteed admission and are exempt from taking the MCATs if they meet requirements including maintaining a 3.6 GPA, completing two summers of research and getting recommendation letters.  

RWJMS and NJMS are among schools with pathway programs to prepare students from underrepresented backgrounds to gain acceptance to medical school.

For years, medical schools have struggled to diversify their pools. In 2020-21, only 8%, or 7,710, of medical school students nationally identified as Black, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges. About 6.7% were Hispanic.
