It builds a broad and well-rounded foundation for the clinical research professional through synchronous and asynchronous competency-based curriculum. It also provides experiential training opportunities.

One of three tracks may be selected:

  • Clinical Research Management – This online core program covers the theory and practice of research methods, statistics, regulatory and legal frameworks for clinical investigation, drug development, clinical research operations, project management, leadership skills, disease process, and regulatory writing.
  • Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance This online track focuses on drug safety basics and regulations, risk management, and signal detection, as well as the core elements of theory and practice of research methods, regulatory requirements of clinical investigations, disease process and pharmacology.
  • Academic Clinical Research Management This hybrid track is especially designed for students with no clinical research or pharmaceutical experience who would like to participate in clinical research at an Academic Medical Center (AMC) functioning as a “study coordinator”.

The MS in Clinical & Translational Science is intended for students with advanced science degrees, especially PhD, MD, PharmD, DO, DDS, DVM or other advanced degrees in health care related fields, is designed to train future team leaders in clinical and translational science research. The program consists of a combination of integrative didactic and hands-on educational experiences that provides students with a global, yet detailed, perspective on the complex continuum of translating hypothesis-driven basic research findings into clinically useful and commercially viable tests or treatments. Graduates of the program utilizes the knowledge obtained to design and oversee programs, facilitate and manage collaborations, and lead research teams in clinical and translational research.

Professional Science Master’s Certificate in Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering: Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering (CDS&E) brings together core areas of science and engineering, computer science, and computational and applied mathematics in a concerted effort to use cyberinfrastructure (CI) for scientific discovery and engineering innovations.

Professional Science Master’s Certificate in Pharmaceutical and Clinical Trials Management: The certificate reviews key aspects of Clinical Trials design and conduct and provides students with practical skills in communication and leadership skills to combine management skills with the drug development process.  This certificate program is also available online.

Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) residency training program’s mission is to produce outstanding leaders who advance the recognition, management, and prevention of illness and injury caused or influenced by agents or conditions in the home, community, and workplace environment. The Program is housed in the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI). Trainees complete courses in the School of Public Health each semester that lead to the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. Each trainee is required to perform a research project working with one of the Department’s faculty as a requisite for completion of the program.
