Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science Membership

The Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science (RITMS) is inclusive community with membership open to all faculty across Rutgers whose research can benefit from their services and whose goals match those of RITMS. As RITMS is extended across New Jersey, membership is extended to faculty in the following partner institutions: academic institutions outside of Rutgers, including New Jersey Institute of Technology, Princeton University and Rowan University; health care providers including Rutgers Health, RWJ University Hospital, The University Hospital in Newark, RWJ Partners and RWJ Physician Enterprise, and Virtua; health information exchanges including Jersey Health Connect and NJII; industry, including managed care organizations; and community organizations and community-based research networks including New Jersey Primary Care Research Network (NJPCRN). Staff of non-academic partner institutions are eligible for associate membership.

Membership

All faculty at Rutgers whose interests are consistent with RITMS goals and themes are invited to apply for RITMS membership.

Membership will provide specific benefits, including:

  • Inclusion in the community of translational researchers at Rutgers
  • Receipt of RITMS communications regarding seminars, meetings, and initiatives
  • Invitations to attend RITMS-sponsored events
  • Eligibility for RITMS sponsored training programs
  • Eligibility for educational and research support grants provided through RITMS
  • Access to RITMS core services and infrastructure

Full membership is also available to all faculty at partnering institutions.

Associate Membership

Membership will be extended to Instructors, Research Associates, Clinical Fellows, Postdoctoral Fellows, and Graduate Students with interests consonant with RITMS themes and goals.

Associate membership’s benefits will include:

  • Inclusion in the community of translational researchers at Rutgers
  • Receipt of RITMS communications regarding seminars, meetings, and initiatives
  • Invitations to attend RITMS-sponsored events
  • Eligibility for RITMS sponsored training programs
  • Access to RITMS core services and infrastructure

All members will be expected to list RITMS membership on their CVs, websites, and publications.

How can I become a member of the RITMS?

Complete the application.  Each completed application needs to include:

  • A short statement indicating why you wants to join the institute and how you feel you can contribute to the its mission
  • An updated CV
  • A brief description of your research
  • Grant support information

 

All membership requests will be forwarded to the membership committee and then will be reviewed by the RITMS executive committee.

Membership Reappointments

All members will have their membership reviewed by the executive committee every three years. Reappointment will be based on the following factors:

  • A sustained publication record in areas consistent with the mission of the institute
  • Publications with other institute investigators or community outreach and engagement members (COEM)
  • Sustained peer-review grant support in areas consistent with the mission of the institute
  • Participation in institute activities (retreats & seminars)
  • Number of trainees participating in the investigators research program
  • Use of cores facilities
  • Meaningful participation in or assistance with COEM activities
