About

The Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine & Research (RITMS) supports research at the interface of basic and clinical research focusing on developing new and safer therapeutics. RITMS includes faculty and basic research space. RITMS also offers research cores, educational programs, and research programs and centers. These are designed to facilitate training and research particularly from proof of concept in cellular and animal model systems across the translational divide to proof of concept and dose selection in humans.

The Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science (RITMS), an interdisciplinary program, combines expertise in cellular, molecular, genetic and clinical science under the direction of Dr. Reynold Panettieri.

We are devoted to understanding the pathogenesis of diseases and to seeking their cures. The RITMS is an integral part of the Department of Medicine. We have postdoctoral fellows and students who have primary appointments in the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Departments of Medicine, Pharmacology, Surgery, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Cell Biology and Radiology are all represented. The RITMS is primarily supported by federal and industry sources. We provide regular visiting professorships and seminar series and we support the career development of junior faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students.
